Queens Beer Week Brewery Run: Rockaway Brewing

  • John F Murray Playground (map)

Hey all! As Queens Beer Week is upon us (May 11-May 18), I thought I'd take the opportunity to organize some casual group runs, each one landing at a different brewery! 5 times throughout the week, we'll be meeting at the circle at John F. Murray Playground, and then taking about a light 5K to one of 5 different Queens Breweries! The schedule/start time is as follows:

Friday May 11th - 7:00pm
Rockaway Brewing Co.
Saturday May 12th - 1:00pm
Big aLICe Brewing
Sunday May 13th - 2:00pm
LIC Beer Project
Tuesday May 15th - 7:00pm
Fifth Hammer Brewing Company
Friday May 18th - 7:00pm
Iconyc Brewing Co.

(Aim to arrive 10 minutes prior to start time!)

The runs are free! Zero dollars to participate. (Though I certainly wouldn't refuse a tip!) But I'm just hoping to meld my two worlds (I'm a bartender at Rockaway as well as an RRCA/USATF certified running coach), and continue to build the already thriving running community in Queens and NYC at large! I've reached out to each brewery to set up drink specials for runners for the night (Usually $1 off pints/large pours, or $1 off of the first pint, but it'll vary from venue to venue. Don't forget to tip your friendly bartenders.) During the runs and once we land, I'm more than happy to answer any questions with regards to running (or beer) that you might have (training, races, etc!)

Runs will be held at a casual pace, likely in the 9-11 minute mile range, but depending on the pace of the group! There won't be a bag check, but I'll bring my running backpack if you wanted to stash phones, wallets, etc. In the coming week I'll post images of route maps to give you an idea of what each one will entail. Again, aim to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to start, and we'll wait about 5 minutes for stragglers, but then we'll be off. If you haven't been to one or any of these breweries, they're all can't-miss spots, and this is an awesome way to start to immerse yourself in local beer culture!

Shoot me an E-Mail at to RSVP, just so I've got an idea of how many people will be coming to each, and so I can let the breweries know how many to expect! Hope to see you out there!
